Brooklyn artist Sunny Chapman is pleased to announce the opening of The Birdhouse Gallery, a miniature gallery of tiny contemporary art. Located at street level at 499 E. Front Street, the gallery is about the size of a Little Library or a large birdhouse.

The inaugural show, A Certain Blue, will feature a group of notable contemporary artists from New York City and beyond. All the miniature artworks will feature the color blue. The opening party will be outdoors on Saturday May 15 from 2 until 6pm. The show will be viewable during daylight hours from May 15 until June 15.

Merge: Nation's Best Emerging Artists with Disabilities

This call invites artists to consider the intersections and combinations of their creative process and disability identity. In art, the juxtaposition of ideas can blur distinctions or reveal something new. This year’s theme, Merge, explores uniting paths and asks what we can learn when it all comes together.

Our programs for artists with disabilities shape the future of the arts. The VSA Emerging Young Artists Program, a Jean Kennedy Smith Arts and Disability Program, amplifies the voices of emerging artists with career development and professional empowerment. The competition seeks excellent work from emerging artists with disabilities residing in the United States. 

SHINE Emerging Artist Programme 2021

Light Up the North (LUTN) is a network of 6 light festivals across the north of England. In 2021, four of the festivals are joining together to award funding to emerging artists working with light, to produce and exhibit new commissions at  their 2021 light festivals. 

The SHINE programme aims to nurture and develop new talent, giving artists the opportunity to exhibit or perform new work at four of the LUTN festivals (Light Night Leeds, Light Up Lancaster, Lightwaves at Salford Quays and Lightpool in Blackpool). Up to two artists or collectives will be awarded substantial commissions of up to £10K to realise ambitious new artworks.  Some basics - the artwork(s) will need to:

Butterbiggens Prize in Painting

The Butterbiggens Prize is an experiment to see if an art foundation can be productive on a micro scale. We provide tiny grants for artists in the form of fast food gift certificates.

A showcase for contemporary emerging artists, Every month a UK painter will be nominated, and receive a small bursary as well as an online interview and profile. Micro Fellowship fo UK painters, juried by a group of Scottish Art Students.

Open Call: 2022 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in Dance

Three prizes of $50,000 will be given to young immigrant dancers, choreographers, and artistic directors whose work demonstrates a significant contribution to dance and movement arts in the United States. Applications will be accepted through June 11, 2021, at 5 pm ET.
