Material Transformations Visual Arts Thematic | In Person

Overview

Material Transformations invites a collective investigation of the radical potential embedded in organic matter. Led by Candice Lin with Mel Y. Chen, Beatriz Cortez, and Kristine Thompson, this residency will think with the histories latent within natural materials used in artistic production, such as the extractive legacies of different insects, minerals, and clay. Open to visual artists working across mediums, the program will also look at the way in which plants have been used as modes of healing or resistance to dominant systems of power, examining links between plants, nature conservation, colonial bioprospecting, and discourses of hygiene and eugenics.

Our new Open Gallery is looking for artworks on the theme of "Open" for an exhibition in May 2022.

The Open Art Exhibition provides artists with a great opportunity to get greater exposure by exhibiting their work at the Open Gallery in front of a new audience.

The Open Gallery is looking for artists to display 2D and 3D artworks in our new gallery space in Greetland. The gallery is due to open in May 2022 and this will be the first exhibition. The gallery will be based in the Victoria Mills (currently under refurbishment), Stainland Road, Greetland, HX4 8AD. The exhibition will run for 3 weeks from 4th May 2022.

Art Maze Magazine is an independent artist-run and ad-free specialist international print publication dedicated to discovering and promoting experimental and progressive contemporary art, which reflects modern society and its environment, provokes conversation and action; fosters innovation and diversity of mediums which make today’s art scene so intriguing and versatile.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists are welcome to submit works in any medium: painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, textile, installation, any mixed media, digital, performance and film (only jpg + link to video) etc. All visual art mediums are welcome.

Artists or any art organisations on behalf of artists from all countries are welcome to submit their works for consideration.

WOC Online Artist Residency Program

The WOC Online Artist Residency is a great opportunity during lockdown to develop a new project or continue working on a previous one, to receive feedback from fellow artists and support to experiment and stay motivated. It provokes dialogue, exchanging ideas, and critical thinking.

As a collaborative program, it is designed to give a chance to communicate across the globe with other artists, to link people from different corners of the planet and to work with them in different ways. The program builds a strong sense of community and artistic collaboration among its participants which lasts after the program ends.
