The Art of Food

Vices is an exhibition exploring behaviors and concepts associated with immorality. This questioning could lead to insightful discussions about cultural differences, personal beliefs, and the evolving nature of morality. Vices delves into cultural, historical, and ethical dimensions of immoral behaviors, encouraging discussions that transcend boundaries, challenge biases, and contribute to a more nuanced understanding of human values and ethics. Examples include but certainly aren't limited to blasphemy, corruption, drinking, drugs, gambling, gluttony, greed, and promiscuity.

REAL Barrow Food, futures & biodiversity Artist in Residence Open Call

Image: Reading Landscape workshop with Owen Griffiths, at Art Gene’s Allotment Soup: Isle of Walney Community Growing Space

Art Gene invites an artist to take up a six-week residency at our Isle of Walney outdoor project space, Allotment Soup, in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, to create an engaged art and environmental commission in the landscape.

The residency will allow the artist to develop ‘temporary artworks’, create interventions, provocations, and work with and around real issues for these challenging times whilst engaging with local people through focussed workshops and events.

Sacramento Art Cookbook

This year Sacramento Fine Arts Center (Sac Arts) celebrates food and art in two ways. We have a food-themed juried art show this November. Information for that show is available now. We’ve also received a grant to do something unique and creative; an art cookbook. This community art cookbook will be self-published by Sac Arts with assistance from the Sacramento County TOT Grant program. This cookbook will be made up of recipes from multiple individuals and feature artwork from local artists. Sac Arts is looking forward to working with the community to create a publication that celebrates Sacramento’s rich culinary and visual arts sectors.

General Information: Submissions to this cookbook will be open to all residents of the Greater Sacramento Region.

Superpresent Winter Issue

Superpresent magazine is seeking submissions on the theme of FOOD. Food not only in the literal sense but also in the metaphorical sense. What feeds us? What feeds our mind? What do we feed others? What do we hunger for? All food for thought.  www.superpresent.org

Biodesign Sprint 2022

Mars Wrigley and Biodesign Challenge are partnering on a month-long design exploration that asks for new ways to foster the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of people with food systems that also support the health of the environment.

Students, professionals, hobbyists, and enthusiasts from across the globe are invited to envision and create food and agricultural products and processes that help create a future where everyone can thrive. Participants have the chance to collaborate with Mars and sustain ongoing mentorship from leaders within Mars.
