Deggendorf's museums consist of the City Museum with the City Gallery and the Craft Museum directly opposite. 
Since 1983, the Deggendorf City Museum has been housed in the listed building of the former boys' school, a structure dating from 1901. The aim of the museum is to present the cultural, economic and social development of the town and its region. Extensive special collections illustrate this in exemplary examples.
On the top floor of the museum, changing special cultural-historical exhibitions or children's exhibitions are usually presented with extensive accompanying programs.
