Overview

Banff Centre is committed to the development, and production of new works in all major performance disciplines and encourages bold collaborations. Indigenous Performing Arts residencies are designed for Indigenous artists to work on the initial creation phase of a new work in one or more of our studio spaces.

What does the program offer?

This residency offers a range of work spaces and facilities depending on participants' needs and availability. Banff Centre provides limited production support for these residencies. Additional technical support may be negotiated when possible. Partial residencies may be available. 

Who should apply?

Video Practicum

Dates: October 14, 2019 - October 02, 2020

Overview

Working closely with Media + Production staff and artists, the Video Practicum will assist with a variety of projects from inception and development through to completion and delivery.

Over the course of the program, practicum participants will collaborate with producers, directors, camera operators, sound recordists, and video editors on a range of project genres including (but not limited to): marketing/promotional, documentary, and live capture.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: open to emerging and established visual artists in most mediums: installation, earthworks, sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, digital media, printmaking (only for September/October), etc.  

INCLUDED IN THE RESIDENCY: accommodations and private studio space.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Open to emerging and established visual artists in ceramic or overlapping interdisciplinary practices. 

INCLUDED IN THE RESIDENCY: accommodations at the Caetani Centre and shared studio space at the Vernon Community Arts Centre.

The artist stays in their own spacious room with shared accommodations (kitchen, bathroom, living room, entryway) at the Caetani Cultural Centre (a heritage house walking distance of downtown Vernon.)

Audio Recording Engineer Practicum | Media + Production

Overview

The Audio Recording Engineer Practicum is intended as a continuing education experience for emerging recording engineers with mature artistic insight and advanced practical skills, including significant professional experience or a high level of professional training. Practicum participants learn about equipment, software, and recording techniques while working on a wide variety of projects.

Applications are being accepted for the following time periods:

September 30, 2019 – March 27, 2020 for international Applicants

September 10, 2019 – March 29,  2020 for Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada applicants only.
