ALONE/ TOGETHER - INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION

IncuArts Gallery invites artists to submit work for the upcoming show, Alone/ Together.

Alone/ Together is a paradox. 2020 has united and divided the world.  There are schisms within our culture that are widening. At the same time, people are coming together in mass to protest injustices. Wearing a mask can be seen as a simple gesture of kindness towards others; yet may also also entice fighting.  What does it mean to be alone? What does it mean to be together? What does that look like? Have you felt alone? Have we come together? How have you, as an artist reacted to this paradox?

Each artwork will be considered based upon the merit of individual images submitted by each artist.

INTIMATE MONUMENTS: call for participants

Call for participants: for a digital, textual, participatory map-making initiative

INTIMATE MONUMENTS

We arrive at MONUMENT from the Latin monēre, "to remind," its roots indicating the centrality of the mind in projects of memorialization. A collaborative project of memory and its sites, material and mental, INTIMATE MONUMENTS is seeking to weave the intimate into a landscape of commemoration.

How can intimacy––ever individual––speak collectively?

Participants will be asked to submit textual responses to a series of questions. All responses will be recorded anonymously, so as to center the collective voice.

Deadline to submit: 11/30

Figuratively Speaking

Figuratively Speaking is a virtual exhibition celebrating depictions of body within art.

Touch starved and distanced, we are now more aware than ever of our physical presence. Aware of the space we take up, the way it feels to breathe, to move, to hold and be held. Aware of the invisible lines between us that we must now navigate, the lines that move and shift our embodied experience of the world. Every day has become a dance, every interaction a language of body talk.

This exhibition will celebrate the bodies that carry us. Through the eyes of the contributing artists we will appreciate how the figure communicates our humanity. We will share in how it tells our stories of desire, fear, vulnerability and resilience.
