Soulful: A National Exhibition of African American Artists 

 

Description: Soulful is an exhibition that features work from African American Artists from across the country. This exhibition is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums. In honor of Black History Month, this exhibition is open to all African-American artists living in the United States,  and is held at the d’Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The d’Art Center is Norfolk’s thirty-year-old art center and includes working professional artist studios as well as a wide variety of exhibitions and programming open to the public. The d’Art Center is located in the NEON district of Norfolk.

 

Camera USA® 2019: National Photography Exhibition and Award

Now in its 9th year, Camera USA® is a national competition created by the Naples Art Association to inspire and encourage photographers of all skill levels and from all regions of the United States. The program features three professional jurors, one cash prize of $5,000, five $100 honorable mention awards, and culminates with a brick and mortar exhibition held at the Naples Art Association from June 3 through July 5, 2019. Jurors are Tracie Davis, Photographer and Art Director for Zola.com, Brooklyn, New York; Karen Irvine, Chief Curator and Deputy Director, Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago; and Carol McCusker, Curator of Photography, Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

Overview

Banff Centre’s Spoken Word program is the first of its kind, offering an unrivalled setting for artists to explore and develop their voices and career paths. 

This intensive residency provides space to write and time to develop strong performance dynamics. Participants will benefit from mentoring, performance opportunities, studio recording time, access to special events, and engagement with a vibrant network of international artists – all amidst the breathtaking Canadian Rockies.

World-class faculty present challenging workshops on topics from the spoken word tradition such as history, composition, performance, multimedia, production, business, musicality, orality, sound, spirit, language, body, and theatre.
