Performing Arts Creation Residencies 2020

Overview

Banff Centre is committed to the commissioning, development, and production of new works in all major performance disciplines, and encourages bold collaborations across disciplines. Performing Arts residencies are designed for artists to work on the initial creation phase of a new work in one or more of our studio spaces.

What does the program offer?

These residencies offer a range of work spaces and facilities depending on participants' needs and availability. Banff Centre provides limited production support for these residencies. Additional technical support may be negotiated when possible. Partial residencies may be available.

Who should apply?

Natural Disaster Relief for Visual Artists Fellowship

The Byrdcliffe Art Community has received a generous grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation for visual artists living/working in North America (including Mexico and Puerto Rico) who have been displaced or otherwise affected by a natural disaster. This grant includes artists affected by the earthquakes in Mexico, wildfires in California, hurricanes in Puerto Rico, Florida, and Texas, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. Please note that destruction of a home or studio by extremes of weather (e.g. pipes bursting due to freezing, etc) are not covered by this grant.

Byrdcliffe Monthly Artist Residency : Woodstock, NY

Byrdcliffe Artist Residencies offer uninterrupted time and space for creatives in all disciplines. Our serene mountain community is 2.5 hours north of NYC in Woodstock NY with residencies open to individuals, teams, and couples at all stages of their career. Byrdcliffe’s AiR program is particularly beneficial to those who find it restorative to live in a community environment surrounded by natural beauty. Artists are invited to participate in optional programming such as open studios, wellness workshops, studio visits, field trips, and communal dinners, or are free to work in solitude during their entire stay.

1 Month Residencies are offered for individuals and couples with private and communal housing available.  Each resident receives a private studio and living space.

all for Submissions: HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP)

Created 20 years ago to address a compelling need in the field—the void of artistic, administrative, and financial support for artists with certain professional accomplishments, but without breakthrough recognition—the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP) assists artists who are developing distinct artistic voices and experimenting with new approaches that expand the parameters of performance work.
