DTP in London - Day of Performative Drawing Workshops

Day of Performative Drawing Workshops, by Draw to Perform
Sat 16 March 2019, 12:00-20:00. Lewisham Arthouse, London

The upcoming workshop day by Draw to Perform will include three bookable workshops about drawing, provided by acclaimed artists and performers. The workshops will explore alternative ways to make marks, draw and express. These workshops will present different strategies for forming a dialogue between drawing, sound, movement, process and performance.

Participants will draw live, share and discuss their outcomes and ideas. All workshops will target different groups and issues in contemporary drawing and will allow artists the opportunity to experience an art form a first hand, work with and be tutored by some of the leading artists in their field.

Photo Construct

We are inviting 10 photographers to join us for 10 day workshop from 15th to 25th June 2019; living and working from our modest studio/house in Leh. We are looking for passionate people who use photography as a medium or a message for expression. We will be working closely with each participant in converting an artist concept into physical printed photobook. The workshop will start from the initial concept of converting it into a photo narrative, book designing and finally conclude into a printed photobook/Zine. The photographers can come with an empty palate and create works in Leh to make the photobook or come with an already existing body of photographic works.

Modern Composition with Gavin Bryars

Check out the report on Gavin's 2018 session here.Gavin Bryars is without a doubt one of the world's most celebrated living composers. He emerged to the musical establishment in the early sixties, playing bass with improvisers Derek Bailey and Tony Oxley - his relationship with improvisation was short lived, and by the late 60's he was working with John Cage, Cornelius Cardew and John White. His first major works - The Sinking of the Titanic (1969), originally released on Brian Eno's Obscure label in 1975, and Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet (1971) - were released in new versions in the 1990s, selling over a quarter of a million copies.

ScreenDance Intensive

In addition to viewing and discussing a plethora of international dance film shorts and getting an overview of the genre, the Intensive takes participants through a variety of editing exercises, the preliminaries of getting coverage, creating & shooting dynamic choreography for camera - what works and what doesn’t, incorporating elements including time, distance, lighting, jump cuts, and much more.  The Intensive examines narrative vs. conceptual, linear vs. non linear, current & past popular styles of screen dance, “commercial” vs “art”,  where to go/existing options with your films in terms of festivals, funding, distribution etc. and much more.
