Artist Assistant\ Intern

We are seeking a dedicated and talented Studio Art Assistant/Intern to support two artists and lead studio assistant to ensure smooth operations in the art studio. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in arts and crafts, possess a keen eye for detail, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

Art Studio Assistants provide support to artists, help with daily operations, and assists with art installations and exhibitions. They are also responsible for a range of tasks to ensure the studio is tidy, organized, and well-stocked. The intern will report directly to the lead assistant. Key responsibilities include:

1. Setting Up the Studio: Assist in setting up the studio and preparing materials for each project. Prepare art substrate as per artist’s specifications.

2. Studio Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the studio. Ensure all equipment is working properly and safely. Keep track of art supplies and inventory.

3. Assisting Artists: Assist artists with their projects as needed (drawing, painting, gilding, documentation, and digital editing). Help in the creation of artwork under the guidance of the artist.

4. Exhibition Support: Assist in installing and striking exhibits. Help promote the studio and its work through social media and other platforms.

5. Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks such as answering emails, scheduling appointments, and maintaining the artist’s website and social media profiles.

20-25 hours a week - additional hours as needed

Pay is subject to experience starting at $11-$15 hourly

Qualifications: Strong interest in arts and crafts. Attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with artists and other team members.
