OpenCALL for OpenART

OpenART welcomes professional artists worldwide to apply to its 6th edition taking place the summer of 2017.

A jury of OpenART experts will select a number of artists. Invited artists will receive an artist fee of 1,000 EUR, as well as transport, travel and accommodation support.

OpenART is Scandinavia’s biggest public art biennial and takes place in Örebro, Sweden. The city centre is filled with unexpected art that makes people feel happy, disturbed and provoked. Contemporary art from all over the world is showcased for almost three months in the city and offers unexpected encounters.

OpenART is a unique event that turns the city upside down with unconventional art, celebrating bold ideas and promoting unusual expressions. This CALL is open to both individuals and groups in various disciplines. We welcome projects “in situ” that respond to our city. New ideas or fully developed artworks and installations can be submitted.

ARTWORK
OpenART wants to exhibit a wide range of art mediums and techniques. Most of the art will be placed outdoors, available for public interaction day and night during the exhibition period. This requires the art to be made out of durable materials. OpenART targets an audience which aren’t usually in contact with art and therefore have another curiosity and level of respect towards it.

The submission fee is 300 SEK (VAT incl).

If you are among the selected artists, you will be contacted by the OpenART curatorial team, who will provide you with all the necessary information.

ACCEPTANCE
Confirmed artists will receive an artist fee of €1000 (a confirmed group will share €1000), transport, travel and accommodation support. In some cases OpenART also provides production support and in dialogue with the artist find the most appropriate, time-efficient and cost-effective solutions. Artists are expected to participate in the installment of their own artworks. And are also invited to help fellow artists with production and installment on a voluntarily basis. All artists are invited to a set program on the opening weekend of OpenART 2017.
