The Neon Museum National Artist Residency

Now in its sixth year, The Neon Museum National Artist Residency is designed to expand the interpretive potential of the museum collection. The selected artist, working in the fields of digital, performance or visual arts, will have the opportunity to develop a project inspired by The Neon Museum collection. Engagement with the community is an important residency component through a workshop or specific engagement project.

The 2021 residency program will span six weeks from Monday, October 25 through Sunday, December 5, 2021, with the first two weeks conducted virtually and the final four weeks completed on location in Las Vegas. Artists over the age of 18 and based in the United States are eligible to apply.

Lumen Prize for Art and Technology

The Lumen Prize celebrates the very best art created with technology through a global competition. Since 2012, it has supported artists with more than US$90,000 in prize money and created paid opportunities worldwide for the artists who have been longlisted, shortlisted or won Lumen Awards.

Be part of the Lumen Artist Community

65 artists will be longlisted, and join the Lumen Artist Community, where we work to find paid opportunities through our partner organizations. See some of our projects here or read about our community here.

SpeakAIR Online Residency 2021

The digitization of our world has accelerated faster than ever with the pandemic. We look at ourselves in the reflection on a computer screen and tirelessly wonder who/what we are becoming. Each day is the moment which N. Katherine Hayles defined as “a critical juncture when interventions might be made to keep disembodiment from being rewritten, once again into the prevailing concept of subjectivity.” While the fear of the posthuman world reemerges, others may see this moment as an opportunity to revisit and rethink problematic practices rooted within the history of humanism.
