Celebrating Change: Women and the right to vote

Dallas Public Library seeks visual art makers to apply for the Celebrating Change: Women and the Right to Vote virtual exhibition. This open call opportunity encourages artists to share their point of view as it relates to women and the right to vote through the medium of different visual aesthetics, techniques, and narrative concepts. Modest honorarium will be provided.

This show will feature images that engage the notion of celebrating women and the right to vote, on topics of conceptual, political, or social importance using the medium of choice to unveil hidden histories and reveal truths of women and the right to vote. The show will run from November 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 on the Dallas Public Library website.

Sheroes In Quarantine

Lon-art is glad to announce that Sheroes in Quarantine project is continuing and we are open for submissions!

We are looking for 15 new artists to give visibility to three groups of women who, due to system inequality, are being particularly affected by the Covid-19 crisis. Those groups are:

Mothers, Women of colour, Women and Mental Health.

In these hard times of isolation, economic crisis and social distancing, we, more than ever, would like to support our community of women artists while we explore other ways to bring our events to the public. This time we are glad to support our artists with:

- £150 Reward

- £100 If they are selected

- Mindfulness programme for women artists

SUPERNATURAL WOMEN

The theme Supernatural Women opens up questions of culture, history, legend, politics, femininity and womanhood. Participants may decide to focus only on a tiny segment of the theme for their work. For example, they might focus on just one woman. Or, they might look at a group of supernatural women. They may opt not to focus on specific women, but on a female element of the supernatural that is widely known, or that could be invented by the artist.

The content of discussions during the residency will be determined by the work undertaken by participants. Some participants might plan to produce deeply conceptual work. For others the process will be more practical. Others will work on a mixture of both.

Athena Project--located in Denver, Colorado--is proud to announce the call for submissions for its Plays In Progress Series (PIPS). Three to six new plays will be selected based on a blind submission process and given a dramaturg, director, and cast for presentation. This PIP Series is an opportunity for new plays to be developed in the model of a Table Reading which includes approximately 3-5 hours of video conference time with the dramaturg, director, and playwright and 1.5 hours of readthrough/rehearsal before performance. The dramaturg will moderate a talkback following the public performance. Over the course of approximately April and May 2021, conferences will take place with rehearsal and presentation to take place in early June in Denver at a location to be determined.
