INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR ART, ArtMaze Magazine Spring Edition: Issue 17

Art Maze Magazine is an independent artist-run and ad-free international print and online publication dedicated to showcasing and promoting experimental and progressive contemporary art, which reflects modern society and its environment, provokes conversation and action; fosters innovation and diversity of mediums which make today’s art scene so intriguing and versatile.

ELIGIBILITY:Artists are welcome to submit works in any medium: painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, textile, installation, mixed media, digital, film (only jpg + link to video) etc. All visual art mediums are welcome.

Artists or any art organisations on behalf of artists from all countries are welcome to submit their works for consideration.

Each submitted artist, whether selected for a publication or not, will receive a digital copy of the magazine's issue which they applied for.

DEADLINE: February 20th, 2019 (12:00 AM, midnight: end of the day 20th February - Eastern Standard Time)

GUEST CURATOR: Matthew F Fisher, artist and independent curator

Selected artists will be asked for high resolution images and will be published in the next print and digital issue of ArtMaze Magazine. Each (selected) artist will receive a 1 or 2-page spread in print and digital (PDF) magazine including bio, statement, website, and 1-5 featured artworks. All submitted artists will receive a complimentary PDF copy of the magazine and all published artists will be promoted on our website/social media. Physical copies of Art Maze Magazine are printed to the highest quality in London, UK.

Matthew F Fisher is a painter living and working in Brooklyn, NY. He has had solo shows with SHRINE, New York, NY (2020), Taymour Grahne, London, UK (2019, 2017), Ochi Projects, Los Angeles, CA (2019), and Johansson Projects, Oakland, CA (2018). He has also had an active side hustle curating group shows such as Crunch, The Breeder, Athens, GK (2017), Nothing Less, SARDINE, Brooklyn, NY (2014), New York, New Work: The Object Direct, Mississippi State University (2008), and The Longest Day, co-curated with Jon Lutz, Brooklyn, NY (2008). He maintains an Instagram account where he actively promotes artists whose work differs greatly from his own; but, like himself, these are artists who use the act of painting or sculpting in combination with the inaccuracies of the handmade as the best way to translate their ideas into reality.

Mother Art Prize 2020

Procreate Project is back with the 3rd edition of the Mother Art Prize 2020, the only international open call for self-identifying women and non-binary visual artists with caring responsibilities. 

Its aim is to promote and support artists who are mothers/parents as well as drive the attention of the wider public to a broad-spectrum of themes that would otherwise be overlooked and devalued. 

The prize is aimed at artists working in one or more of the following media: painting, drawing, mixed-media, photography, digital art, sculpture, ceramics, installation, textile, sound and video and there are no theme restrictions.

The judging panel is composed by:

  • Pauline Desouza, Director of the Diversity Art Forum
  • Elvira Dyangani Ose, Director of The Showroom and Lecturer in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths University

Prizes: 

Exposure: Group show for up to 20 selected artists at Elephant West, Elephant Magazine’s pioneering project space in west London [6-29 of November 2020]; feature in the Procreate Project online shop and in the Elephant Magazine. 

Winner’s Award: £500 Cash Prize + 2-week solo exhibition at The Showroom in summer 2021

International Award: Up to 4 weeks residency at the White House Dagenham [In partnership with Create London] + £500 worth of art materials sponsored by Colart

Visual Art Open 2020

The VAO art competition is a not for profit event open to both amateur and professional artists based in the UK and internationally. The aim is to give artists the ultimate platform to develop their passion and career in the arts sector. Finalists will benefit from exhibiting, selling and showcasing their work to art critics and art buyers alike.

All artists both UK & International are invited to apply for the Visual Art Open Prize, with a prize value of £5,000. Finalists will also be exhibited at Chester Arts Fair 2020.

 There are 6 categories: - Painting /Mixed Media /Printmaking - Illustration /Drawing - Sculpture – Photography/Digital Art- Young Artist (16-24 years old) – Children’s Award (15 years and under).
 Cost - £15.00 per submission. £10.00 for entrants under 24 years old.
 The overall winner of the VAO will be awarded: Cash prize of £1,000.00 to support the production of new works, plus stand space at Chester Art Fair 2021.
 £250.00 will be awarded for category winners.

This is a call to all FIGURATIVE art, of all visual MEDIUMS and artists from ALL LOCATIONS.
 

Cutting edge Hermosa Beach gallery is looking for the best working artists to feature in an upcoming group exhibition at ShockBoxx Gallery in early April of 2020. The top artist submissions will win a Cash Prize and Award Certificate, as well as receiving Featured Wall Space in the exhibition. This is a call centering around the Human Figure, so use this theme to submit your best figurative artwork to this Juried Competition and Group Show.

Artworks will be judged based on creativity, originality, quality of work, composition, and overall artistic ability.

9th Artist Spotlight Solo Art Competition

Fusion Art is now accepting entries for the 9th Artist Spotlight Solo Art Competition. Artist Spotlight highlights individual artists who have an overall body of work to showcase.

From this competition Fusion Art will select up to 12 winning artists - four traditional artists, four digital & photography artists and four 3-dimensional artists (if the gallery has received 3-dimensional entries) for individual month-long solo art exhibitions on the Fusion Art website starting in April 2020.

The Artist Spotlight competition is an open competition. There is no theme and any subject matter and any media are acceptable. Both 2D and 3D artists from around the world are encouraged to submit their best work for consideration.

Fusion Art invites submissions for its 13th Quarterly Art Competition – Sunrises & Sunsets.

For this art competition, 2D and 3D artists, worldwide, are encouraged to submit their best work depicting these two very distinct times of day, also known as “magic hour”. The work can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and all artists, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit their best representational or abstract art and photography.

A three-month group online exhibition will be featured on the Fusion Art website starting March 15, 2020.
