OPEN CALL for New Short Film or Audio for ArtSwarm, theme: South America




ArtSwarm is a fortnightly video and audio art programme for YouTube featuring only new, original content created by artists.

We need new content to broadcast each episode and are calling for new video or audio pieces to play of any sort, from experimental works to animation, poetry, drama, music or soundscapes, or anything creative. The main criteria is that work must be new, not shared online or previously published, and available for free public broadcast. You can find terms and full details here:

Episodes have an optional theme. The theme for Episode 19 is South America, and the deadline is 12pm on Sunday December 2nd.

'The Sound of Colour' art exhibition




'The Sound of Colour’ is a music-inspired collaborative exhibition, in which we invite emerging artists to showcase with us for our first exhibition of 2019 at Creative Arts Hub in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.

We're returning to the Creative Arts Hub in Mirfield, West Yorkshire to start 2019 with a creative bang! 

'The Sound of Colour' is our first exhibition of the year, set to feature an exciting collaboration of painting, print and photography works inspired by music! We're looking for creations based on portraits of celebrated musicians (living and deceased), as well as abstract works inspired by both modern and contemporary festivals, dance and music.

Exhibition dates: Sat 12 January - Sat 23 February 2019

Acceptance fee per exhibitor: £15 

Please note - the acceptance fee may increase if your chosen submissions exceed approx 60cm (or 25inch) in length - we try allocate an equal amount of wall space per exhibitor. (Please enquire about larger submissions prior to submitting, we will accommodate where possible) 

Sales commission: 30% sales commission to the Creative Arts Hub. Funds raised go towards the running of the venue.

Open Artist Series: Community Building & DIY Networks


The next event in our Open Artist Series will take place at Manchester’s most exciting new music venue YES – with a focus on ‘community’.

Aimed at musicians in the early stages of their career, you’ll get the chance to hear from and chat to other emerging musicians, established artists and industry professionals including:

  • Adrian McNally (The Unthanks)
  • Steve Pycroft (Riot Jazz, Kaleidoscope Orchestra)
  • Girl Gang Manchester
  • Dan Valentine

In a relaxed and informal setting, together you’ll explore:

  • How to build a music scene, or join an existing one
  • How to exist as an artist, even when you’re in an isolated area
  • How to create your own space, and fill it


  • 9:30 – Registration
  • 10:00 – 14:30  – Event (full agenda tbc)
  • 14:30 onwards – Social in the YES bar

The Open Artist Series is part of a three-year programme supported by Help Musicians UK. Through a series of events, mentoring opportunities and showcases, it will support emerging musicians to make a career in music – encouraging and enabling them to become innovators in their own careers, and active contributors to a fairer and more sustainable music industry.

5th open international contest Freedom of Form




Interference Foundation – the main organiser of the Interference Festival of Visual Communication Forms in Gdańsk – is pleased to open the contest “Freedom of Form”, inviting entries of visual works in one of two main categories.

1. MUSIC VIDEO [max 10 minutes]

The international contest has an open formula - it is addressed to individual authors as well as companies, legal persons, organisations, institutions, and artist collectives. The main aim of the contest is to select the best, the most aesthetically and creatively outstanding short visual works. Another aim is to collect works representing a broad spectrum of visual projects for presentation at the festival. The contest also aims to facilitate the presentation and promotion of young artists’ work.


Main contest – The Grand Prix in amount of 2500 zł [gross value] sponsored by the City of Gdańsk will be awarded in two main categories to authors of the following visual forms:

- Music Video

- Experimental Short Visual Form.


Other prizes / distinctions:

- Audience prize in amount of 2000 zł [gross value]

All works shall be submitted to contest serwer

A condition in participating in the contest is filling in a submission form and transferring the film to the contest serwer.


Submissions will be accepted till 30 November 2018  [till 12AM UTC+02:00]. Every entity / person is allowed to enter two works maximum, with the proviso that every work is submitted to a different category. It is not possible to enter the same work in more than one category.

Only entry works made in 2016-2018 will be considered.

A Residential Course for Collaborative Arts Practice in Góis, Portugal
August 1-12, 2018

An intensive residential course bringing together visual artists and musicians to work collaboratively over ten days, creating new works combining photography, moving image, music, and sound art.

2019 S&R Foundation Washington Award



The S&R Foundation Washington Award recognizes talented emerging artists working in visual

arts, music, and dance.

This year we are excited to announce the amount of the Washington Award will be increased to a cash prize of $10,000 USD. In addition, the Awards Committee may designate a Grand Prize winner who will receive an additional $5,000.


• Award winners become part of the S&R Foundation network of

artists, scientists, and social entrepreneurs.

• Award winners will be invited to the Washington Award

Ceremony in Washington D.C. in Spring 2019.
