'The Sound of Colour' art exhibition

'The Sound of Colour’ is a music-inspired collaborative exhibition, in which we invite emerging artists to showcase with us for our first exhibition of 2019 at Creative Arts Hub in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.

We're returning to the Creative Arts Hub in Mirfield, West Yorkshire to start 2019 with a creative bang! 

'The Sound of Colour' is our first exhibition of the year, set to feature an exciting collaboration of painting, print and photography works inspired by music! We're looking for creations based on portraits of celebrated musicians (living and deceased), as well as abstract works inspired by both modern and contemporary festivals, dance and music.

Exhibition dates: Sat 12 January - Sat 23 February 2019

Open Artist Series: Community Building & DIY Networks

The next event in our Open Artist Series will take place at Manchester’s most exciting new music venue YES – with a focus on ‘community’.

Aimed at musicians in the early stages of their career, you’ll get the chance to hear from and chat to other emerging musicians, established artists and industry professionals including:

  • Adrian McNally (The Unthanks)
  • Steve Pycroft (Riot Jazz, Kaleidoscope Orchestra)
  • Girl Gang Manchester
  • Dan Valentine

In a relaxed and informal setting, together you’ll explore:

5th open international contest Freedom of Form

Interference Foundation – the main organiser of the Interference Festival of Visual Communication Forms in Gdańsk – is pleased to open the contest “Freedom of Form”, inviting entries of visual works in one of two main categories.

1. MUSIC VIDEO [max 10 minutes]
2. EXPERIMENTAL SHORT VISUAL FORM [max 8 minutes]

A Residential Course for Collaborative Arts Practice in Góis, Portugal
August 1-12, 2018

An intensive residential course bringing together visual artists and musicians to work collaboratively over ten days, creating new works combining photography, moving image, music, and sound art.

2019 S&R Foundation Washington Award

The S&R Foundation Washington Award recognizes talented emerging artists working in visual

arts, music, and dance.

This year we are excited to announce the amount of the Washington Award will be increased to a cash prize of $10,000 USD. In addition, the Awards Committee may designate a Grand Prize winner who will receive an additional $5,000.

Additionally:

• Award winners become part of the S&R Foundation network of

artists, scientists, and social entrepreneurs.

• Award winners will be invited to the Washington Award

Ceremony in Washington D.C. in Spring 2019.

Music at the Museum with Firefly Burning

If you’re 16-25, working towards a music career and want to be inspired this summer – join experimental folk rock band Firefly Burning for ‘Music at the Museum’ – a week-long residency of collaborative songwriting and music-making.

Taking inspiration from the incredible collections at Manchester Museum, you’ll spend five days from 8-12 July writing, creating and performing new music under the artistic guidance of award-winning artists John Barber and James Redwood from the band Firefly Burning.
