UNITY

Photographers are invited to submit works in response to UNITY, images that have been created to express the state of being united or disunited, joined as a whole or torn apart, whether from an individual, collective or other perspective.

Exhibition will be curated entirely on the felt process - how the panel responds emotionally and somatically to works received. Felt Photographic celebrates the fundamental call to create - to help make sense of the world, who we are and our place in it. Felt Photographic believes that all art has value and our responses are entirely subjective, therefore submissions will not be critiqued, scored or judged - simply felt, noticed and appreciated.

Which of your images is calling to be seen? Which needs to be felt?

Guest Room: Daniel Boetker-Smith

Guest Room aims to spark collaboration. Daniel Boetker-Smith, Director of the Australian Centre for Contemporary Photography, has decided to collaborate with photo editor, curator, and writer Tanvi Mishra, who has recently curated the Louis Roederer Discovery Award for the 2023 edition of Rencontres d'Arles. Together, they have developed the following framework for your submissions: "(make) belief".

"We would like to look at submissions that explore the gap in meaning-making within the image(s) – when we make photographs, what constructions do we deploy? When we piece stories together, what are the slippages?
Despite photography’s historically contentious relationship with evidence, we find the medium continuing to be used to foreground various ‘truths’.
