Portobello Wall Public Art Project: 2019 Comission

Portobello Wall Public Art Project

The Portobello Wall Public Art Project is an annual public art commission for a stretch of brick wall linking two of the most vibrant and well known market areas in London: Portobello Road and Golborne Road. Since the introduction of this project in 2009, successful installations have created a visual link between these two unique markets, and attract over 1.3 million visitors each year.

The budget for the commission is £11,000 inclusive of all artists’ fees, materials, labour and outreach programme costs.

Creative Time's Open Call is now live!

New York’s leading public art nonprofit, Creative Time, invites artists to submit proposals for a public artwork. The call is open to New York City-based, practicing artists at a pivotal juncture in their career, who have not yet received a public commission or substantial support from a major cultural institution. Creative Time is most interested in ideas that take unconventional exhibition formats, speak to a pressing social issue, and engender public dialogue. The project should be timely, and hold the potential to spark critical public exchange. Proposals can range from the unassuming to a dramatic gesture — no specific size or scale.
