Dance Residency: Final Tuning - Winter 2025

Overview

The Final Tuning residency offers two dance companies the time, space, and resources in a spectacular mountain setting to take their previously developed work to the next stage. Selected companies will receive access to a Banff Centre dance studio for three weeks to work on rehearsing their proposed project. During the second and third weeks, artists will have access to either the recently renovated Jenny Belzberg Theatre, or the Margaret Greenham Theatre (as assigned), to begin implementing technical elements into their projects. Both companies will be given the opportunity to present their work (or work-in-progress) to the public.

Dare to Dance in Public Film Festival

Submissions are currently Open for DARE TO DANCE IN PUBLIC FILM FESTIVAL: Round 7 (D2D)

D2D is dedicated to the concept of democratizing dance by taking it into the public sphere, exploring space and place, and intersecting creatively with the art of film.  We are most interested in the creative intersection of dance and the camera, and films that transcend perceived boundaries of  country, culture, ethnicity, race, religion, and gender, and that speak to us wordlessly in the universal language of movement about what it is to be human.

INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL | MUDA

ACCCA (Companhia Clara Andermatt) and INAC (Instituto Nacional das Artes de Circo) are holding auditions for a new creation under the artistic direction of Clara Andermatt. We are seeking circus and dance artists with skills in acrobatic techniques, particularly 'hand-to-hand' combined force techniques, as well as contemporary dance. Strong emphasis will be placed on performative and theatrical skills.

The selection of performers is guided by criteria of both technical and artistic qualities, without regard to age, gender, physical, intellectual, or social background. Our objective is to create a diverse, inclusive, and multidimensional ensemble.

Seeking Live Performance Proposals for The Outlet Dance Project

We are seeking proposals for new site-specific dance pieces that are between 7 – 12 minutes in length. Choreography is to be in conversation with specific sculptures and the land/surroundings at Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) along with the theme of STORY.

We are looking for proposals from choreographers of marginalized genders. This includes people who are trans, cis-gender women, non-binary, two-spirit, agender, gender fluid, gender expansive, or those who may be questioning their gender.

The Outlet Dance Project (TODP) is committed to supporting all dance forms. We strongly encourage artists from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply.
