Roadmap to Joy

Roadmap to Joy is a forthcoming public art exhibition curated by Atiba T. Edwards and Mz. Icar in partnership with The Culture Rooms, FOKUS and Arts and Crafts Holdings. This exhibition will approach the notion of joy as a journey. How do we get there as a collective? As individuals? And what does it look like? What does it feel like?

8-10 emerging Black artists will be selected through a public open call process to have their work displayed on public windows in Philadelphia, PA. Artists are asked to submit site-specific works related to the theme of ‘Roadmap to Joy’. Selected works will be printed on exterior vinyl and displayed on the existing windows. We will cover the printing installation and production costs.

Priority will be given to Philadelphia artists but entries are accepted from all locations.

ARTWORK ELIGIBILITY
Art Categories: Painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, photography, digital art, and mixed media are accepted.
Artists may submit work for multiple locations please be sure to submit 1 application per location.
Style: All styles are welcome- No nudity nor exploitatives, it’s a public show
Duration: There is no limit for artwork creation year. Artworks created within the last 5 years are preferred.
Number of Artworks: Artists are invited to submit up to 10 pieces of their original artworks.

Originality and Rights:

• – Artist should own all the rights for promoting, publishing and selling the artworks locally and internationally.
• – Entries must not be copies or derivatives based, in any way, on other copyrighted or published paintings, photographs, sculptures, or other artistic works.
• – Organizers have the right to use artworks and artists’ data for promoting the exhibition.
