The Gallery at Green & Stone announces the call for entries for its highly anticipated Summer Exhibition 2024. This annual event is a celebration of emerging artists and their diverse talents, showcasing a wide range of art in 2D and 3D.

Entering its 6th year, the Green & Stone Summer Exhibition provides artists with the chance to showcase their work in the vibrant Chelsea art scene. Participants have the opportunity to receive generous awards and gain recognition within the art community. With an expanded prize list and increased exhibition space, this year's event is expected to be the most exciting yet.

Open worldwide, the call for entries invites artists to submit their very best 2D and 3D artworks. All mediums are welcome, including but not limited to: painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, photography, print and textile.

The Gallery at Green & Stone exhibits unique, contemporary, and affordable artwork, and their Summer Exhibition serves as a launching pad for artists, offering a platform for their talent and potential.

The selection is conducted anonymously by respected artists and curators, with artworks assessed solely on their quality. The selectors are:

  • Adebanji Alade: known as The Addictive Sketcher, Adebanji regularly features on the BBC's The One Show, and can often be found sketching travellers on the London Underground. He trained at Yaba College of Technology in Nigeria, later obtaining a diploma in portraiture from Heatherley's School of Fine Art in Chelsea, where he now teaches. He is also the founder of The Addictive Sketchers Movement (his online art school), where he inspires and teaches students worldwide how to sketch anything they see accurately and confidently. Adebanji is the president of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters; a member of The Guild of Fine Art in Nigeria; and in 2014, was elected to the council of the Chelsea Art Society. He also belongs to Urban Sketchers Worldwide and Plein Air Brotherhood.
  • Professor Alixe Bovey: Dr. Alixe Bovey is The Courtauld's Executive Dean and Deputy Director and a member of the History of Art department. She leads the academic strategy and the departments that comprise their Academic Directorate, including History of Art, Conservation, Student and Academic Services, Library Services, and Public Programmes. She is a specialist in the art and culture of the Middle Ages, with interests in illuminated manuscripts, visual storytelling, and the relationship between myth and material culture across historical periods and geographical boundaries.
  • Meng Zhou: Meng Zhou received his Master's Degree from The Royal College of Arts, London, UK and his BA in Painting from Camberwell College of Arts, London, UK. His work addresses issues of ecology, cultural heritage, transition and transformation. Working across installation, moving image, painting, and sculpture, his work examines his reflection on human responsibilities to the cultural and ecological environment and our shared heritage. Meng is interested in drawing out moments of conversation and conflict between tradition and modernity to illuminate where we are now. His works are composites drawn from a combination of dreamscapes, material culture, and myth which constantly oscillate between figuration and abstraction. His work has been exhibited globally and is held in private collections worldwide.

The exhibition of shortlisted works opens with a vibrant Private View. This exciting opening night extends onto the street, providing a welcoming environment for artists, curators, collectors, and art enthusiasts to meet and exchange. All submitting artists are encouraged to attend and participate in this vibrant celebration of art.

The deadline to enter is Wednesday 15 May 2024, 12noon BST. The Summer Exhibition will then run from 30 July to 30 August 2024.
