Create! Magazine is honored to announce a global virtual exhibition opportunity curated by the esteemed Margaret Winslow, Curator of Contemporary Art of the Delaware Art Museum. We cordially invite artists from around the world to showcase their talent and submit their work for this exhibition themed "Fresh Paint."

 

Theme: Fresh Paint

 

Create! Magazine invites contemporary artists to delve into the medium of painting in its broadest sense. What does painting signify to you? We encourage artists who experiment with paint, texture, color, and all other facets of this medium to apply to this virtual exhibition juried by a leading museum curator. While all styles and mediums are welcome, please note that Fresh Paint is not exclusively for paintings; installations, photography, and other forms of expression are also invited.

 

About Our Guest Curator

Margaret Winslow, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Art Museum.

Margaret Winslow currently resides and works in Wilmington, Delaware. She holds the dual roles of Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Art Museum. Previously, she curated for the Neuberger Museum of Art and The Delaware Contemporary and assisted with exhibitions for the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Her recent exhibitions at the Delaware Art Museum include Afro-American Images 1971: The Vision of Percy Ricks, Black Survival Guide, or How to Live Through a Police Riot, a 2018 commission by Hank Willis Thomas; Truth & Vision: 21st Century Realism; Dream Streets: Art in Wilmington 1970–1990; and Retro-Active: Performance Art from 1964–1987.

In addition to her curatorial roles, Margaret has served as an evaluator for the Headlands Center for the Arts, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Delaware, and a radio host for Art Watch on WCHE 1520 AM. She has given public presentations at venues such as the Beijing American Center in China, the College Art Association, and the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums.

Margaret holds a BA in Art History from the University of Mary Washington and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Art, Theory, and Criticism from SUNY Purchase College.

Create! Magazine was established in 2013 to address the need for emerging artists to showcase their work. Through collaborations with prominent galleries, art fairs, curators, and professionals in the art world, we have evolved into a formidable platform with a profound commitment to bolstering emerging artists on their journey to success, striving to enhance their visibility in the art world.

This expertly curated exhibition will be accessible to viewers and collectors virtually via our website. Selected works from the show will be individually highlighted on our social media profiles: Instagram with 216k+ followers, Facebook with 55k+ followers, and Threads with 19k+ followers.

Create! Magazine has collaborated with esteemed partners such as Art Miami Fairs, Affordable Art Fair, The Jealous Curator, Showfields NYC, and more. We have curated exhibitions in national universities and galleries, and are thrilled to now offer this opportunity to our expansive international community of artists online. Our notable features include those by Monocle Radio, NYPost, Colossal, Apartment Therapy, and others.

Please note that there is a curatorial fee of $35  that goes towards supporting our community and helping provide opportunities for artists, writers, and curators. If you are unable to pay at this time, we understand and urge you to apply to our FREE blog instead. Remember that you may always submit to our blog for free using the form found on Submittable. 

 

ELIGIBILITY: Artists from any country are welcome to apply with works in any medium: painting, sculpture, digital, printmaking, fiber, photography, mixed media, installation, and more. The broad theme, “Fresh Paint” is open to the artist’s interpretation. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:  

 

  • Artists may submit up to 10 individual (different artworks) pieces of work for consideration.

  • Artists must ensure high quality of images, and we recommend 300 dpi jpeg.

  • Artwork images and bio must be uploaded directly to the Submittable form.

  • Bio and statement must be under 300 words each.

  • Artwork does not have to be for sale.

 

IMPORTANT DATES: 

Deadline: September 30, 2023

All artists will be notified of the curator’s final decisions by November 2023. If your work is selected, you will receive further information at that time. All selected work will be on display online on our virtual exhibition platform and each artist will receive a social media post. 

 

SUBMISSION INFORMATION:  

 

  • Submission fee is $35 (non-refundable)

  • The limit of submitted artworks is 10

  • Bio word limit 300 Statement word limit 300    

 

AGREEMENT: Create! Magazine retains the privilege to feature images of the artwork on its website and social media channels. By partaking in this submission, the artist acknowledges and agrees to the stipulated terms. While the artist retains full copyright over their work, Create! Magazine will not employ the images outside the scope of the exhibition, interviews, or related social media promotions without obtaining explicit consent from the artist.
