Hearts on Fire and The Mother We Share: 

A Microfundraiser for Gaza and Open Call Exhibition of 10-15 emerging and contemporary artists: May 25th 5-9 at Good Mother Studio, 1955 Broadway Oakland CA, 94612 

Hearts on Fire and The Mother We Share is an open call exhibition of 10-15 emerging and contemporary artists whose work explores the universal, mythological, archetypal, personal or spiritual interpretations of The Mother We Share, love, hate, take for granted, rediscover or recreate individually and collectively through art making. Hearts On Fire is, in part, a metaphor of the artist and audience as both creator/destroyer, as well as one's heightened awareness to the fragility of life and shared humanity. This collection of work invites subject matter that associates with, but is not limited to the element of fire, the color red, and all sources of love, resistance, grief, rage, joy, rebirth and renewal. It is through this intersection of free form associations and storytelling connected to the Mother We Share, that art becomes alchemized as a life force. Like Gaia, Mother of Earth, The Mother We Share is ephemeral and boundless yet palpable and potent amidst the imminent shadows of death and decay. Hearts on Fire and The Mother We Share question who, what and where we attribute blame towards during times of mass destruction or the ‘fall of man’. Was Pandora really the dangerous woman who birthed chaos and discord? If Hope remains locked within her notorious box of all evils maybe now is a time as ever to release its vitality and spirit. 

100% of all proceeds will be donated to the Gaza Mutual Aid Collective a grassroots organization of women within the states supporting the distribution of humanitarian aid and compensation directly to families and individuals in Gaza. You can learn more about the Gaza Mutual Aid Collective by following @gazamutualaid @anthropologicalexchange and @lalph_rauren for more updates on the primary projects GMAC is supporting such as community kitchens distributing food in Rafah, water distribution and cash distribution to displaced families. 

Submission Guidelines: 

Size: 2D works no larger than 4’ x 5’, 3D works no larger than 4’x5’x5’. 

Media: 2D works such as paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media are all welcome. Any sculptures or 3D works must be free standing and come with a stand/support which the artist will be responsible for delivering and retrieving within a requested time. 

Quantity: each artist can submit 3-5 works. Not all artworks may be accepted by each artist but a variety of sizes, mediums and subject matter related to the theme is encouraged to increase eligibility. 

Deadline for Submissions: April 25th 

Fee for Submissions: $5 or pay what you can is appreciated (which will go towards the additional costs of renting the gallery, event operations, event marketing and drinks and/or snacks for opening of the show. :) Venmo:@AnnMarie-Krulick 

Submission Instructions: 

All submissions must include a good quality image of each work with the title, artist’s name, medium, year completed and price of the work sent in the body of an email with the subject line: Art Submission Inquiry and the [name of the artist] to krulickam@gmail.com no later than April 25rd. 

*Images of all works can be sent as pdf attachments labeled accordingly with the respective title, artist name, medium, year completed and price of each work. Please indicate if you would like to remain anonymous or have your name shared on the show card and price list which will be shared with the public. 

Final decisions for artist submissions will go out no later than May 2nd via email. 

All works would be stored safely in my apartment until the day of the show and would need to be hand delivered to me while I am home or arranged for a pick up/meet up halfway, on one of the following weekend days: 5/4 - 5/5 - 5/11- 5/12 - 5/18 - 5/19. Please share which date you can arrange for a drop off/pick up of your work in your Submission email and I will provide my address or we can arrange the logistics for a pickup/meetup halfway if necessary. 

The show will be deinstalled shortly after it closes that evening/perhaps the following morning. Artists whose works have not sold must confirm they will pick up their works between 9am -1pm 5/26 Sunday at the gallery.
