Virtual Residency
Category:
Eligibility:
The residency is mixed discipline and welcomes artists identifying as visual, conceptual, video, writers, poets, multidisciplinary, performance, installation and photographers.
Residents produce their own work. There is no shared project.
The content of discussions during the residency will be determined by the work undertaken. Some residents might plan to produce deeply conceptual work. For others the process will be more practical. Others will work on a mixture of both.
We are looking for those who seek to move their work forward through their interactions. In these times of the world feeling both smaller and bigger, of globalisation vs. quarantine, times in which the promotion of self threatens community, we are looking for artists who wish to work alongside others, to feed and nourish one another creatively.
We recognise that it is not possible to carry out an in-person program using virtual tools. This program has been made to make the most of the tools we have rather than try to recreate an in-person residency using video.

/ Commit to attend all meetings.
/ Take part in a one-to-one with each of the other residents.
/ Contribute either a 750 word written piece, an interview or seven images to be included in a final online publication.
/ Allocate time to spend on creative practice outside the residency meetings. We ask participants to allocate a minimum of 40 hours across the six weeks.
/ Actively take part in discussion of others work, seek ways to contribute ideas and offer support to fellow residents.
/ Be willing to listen to the ideas and support from fellow residents regarding their own work.
/ Abide by our community guidelines.
/ Be familiar with and able to use the apps Zoom and Telegram. Attention to video calling set up is essential.
A virtual program allows those who cannot travel to take part. However, the residency is also a commitment, and shouldn’t be undertaken unless a commitment to attending meetings and moving creative work forward can be made.
