OPEN CALL TO ACTORS: [INSERT FEELING HERE] immersive art experience

Eligibility:

OPEN CALL TO ACTORS: Looking for actors to collaborate on a unique immersive art exhibition for two nights only on 26 & 27 February in the Old Biscuit Factory in Bermondsey.

The performance is part of a unique immersive art exhibition [INSERT FEELING HERE], an artist reflection on chasing our own emotions, the highs and the lows and making space for everything in between. The aim of the event is to make people feel and experience art becoming part of the creation process rather than observers. The audience will dive into the minds of 11 artists and get immersed into their practice.

We are looking for the following:

- Actors to encourage the audience to interact with immersions and ensure the flow of people from one immersion to the other.
- Actors to act as nurses in a lab room immersion designed to make the audience reflect on emotions, the brain and art
- An actor to impersonate Sigmund Freud in an immersion designed to make the audience reflect on how they feel

There will be a lot of scope for self expression and co-creation as part of the project.

Process and Material: April 17 - May 9, 2020

Exhibition Description: Oftentimes, artists pursue their unparalleled originality and one of a kind making process through their own inventive and unique adaptations of traditional techniques. The processes reflect the artists’ insights and experiences in creation, and it becomes a work of art itself. Other times, everyday objects and raw elements can challenge many makers to push the boundaries of the common perception and expectation of the material. It is also through the artists’ eyes that we see the hidden potential of the material.

Open to all artists, Woman Made Gallery is inviting artwork that is either made with unique materials, and/or unconventional methods of application. This exhibition will highlight both the artists’ innovative applications in fabrication, and pioneering approaches to the materials to cultivate the communication between each artist’s creative practice and their experimentation with the materials’ limit.

It’s been 100 years since women were given the right to vote in the United States. In this exhibition, WMG is soliciting work by female identified artists that represent the experience of being a woman and the nuanced (and overt) ways that being female supports or subverts your daily life.  Artwork should reflect your narrative experience – your story of being female.  We’re searching for a variety of voices to share triumphs and setbacks that highlight gains made or what is missing in our society in terms of equality between the sexes. What is your story and how is it woven into a struggle for equality over 100 years old that has only definitively delivered the right to vote?

Juror: Candace Hunter is a  Visual Artist, Culture Writer, Curator, and Water Rights Activist. Visit  https://chleeart.com/  for more information.

Call out for Host Membership:

Art Science Exhibits Berlin launches an innovative residency program for professional Visual Artists, Curators, and Art Administrators, which includes stipends for Host Members worldwide.

As more artists enter the international artworld, more and more artists pay out of pocket for residency opportunities. With so many applications, even the best are denied. And the residencies that can offer you support, most often, can’t offer connections to regional artists, curators, or exhibition venues.

By providing this expanding network for members, and by keeping the money in the pockets of friendly artists, Art Science Exhibits presents the solution.

With Artist to Artist, international Host Art Professionals offer engaging, one-on-one residencies to fellow professional artists - by sharing their home or studio, regional network, and resources. In turn, Host Members will be provided with a stipend from their visiting Guest Artist. Whilst sharing, Host Members likewise gain connections to each of their visitors' networks.

With Artist to Artist, Art Professionals have the possibility to expand their opportunities globally and exponentially.

About us:

Art Science Exhibits Berlin has grown from increasing our network of artist interaction and, we believe, so can you. At present, we have exhibited the work of artists from:  Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Thailand, the UK and the USA.
