Supernova 7th Dimension is a comprehensive showcase of digital animation and motion art that promotes experimentation, innovation, imagination, individual artistry, equity, diversity, and solidarity amongst those leveraging computer software as the primary tools in their craft.

Supernova’s seventh year aims to elevate artists that are changing the world and those who fashion their unique position in a multi-faceted society. The number 7 acquired complex significance throughout history with ties to early science, esoteric practices, and numerology. In its symbolic representation, the number 7 has been influential across the ages, influencing artists from the Medieval period, to Surrealists in the early 20th century, and even film, which is acknowledged as the “7th Art.” A full schedule of activities and programming can be reviewed online at denverdigerati.org/2022-7th-dimension

Supernova is a singular example of innovation within an urban context, as well as a celebration of the most dynamic and rapidly growing artistic medium in animation, film and video, representing the Next Generation of Art. Supernova’s primary emphasis is on short-form animation and motion-artworks, however; the festival also supports long-form projects, including feature length films that promote distinguished advances in the medium. Supernova does not limit submissions to any specific genre, but is most interested in artists exploring experimental practices and innovative creators that are pushing the boundaries of the medium in new and exciting ways. Students are encouraged to submit their work for our annual Student Shorts competition. Supernova feature programs are presented online throughout the month of September, capped with a concluding celebration to honor our award recipients. Select programs will be featured in a special live event on screens in the theaters at the Sie Film Center in Denver, Colorado on September 23rd.

Supernova is presented by Denver Digerati, a nonprofit specializing in digital animation and motion art, with the belief in the freedom to create without restrictions. Supernova is funded in part by The Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, cultivating arts and leaders for a vibrant community. Additional financial support is provided by Colorado Creative Industries. Screen sponsors include The Denver Theatre District, Orange Barrel Media, Branded Cities, UAC and Denver Film.
