CALL FOR PROJECTS
The São João Residence is calling for projects! Up to11 candidates will be selected to take part in the fifth SOMSOCOSMOS sonic residence.

The residence provides structures for sound/music creation and recording, knowledge sharing and partnership establishment, between musicians and other creatives as well. The applications are open to all interested in collaborating with musicians and / or whose work / research is permeated by sound (musicians, sound artists, writers, activists, therapists, filmmakers, scientists, dancers, etc.).

We believe that the act of sharing enriches the artistic practice. Dynamics such as improvisations, readings, listening sessions, workshops and collective discussions may be part of the agenda.
We'll create a collective calendar, through which dynamics can be proposed and discussed horizontally within the group of residents; the local producers assist in the realization of ideas that emerge.
Residents should have time to focus on personal projects as well as to take part in collective activities.
Finally, we propose an approximation with the beautiful natural environment that surrounds the residence, through expeditions to record sounds, make outdoor practices, workshops, performances, installations, etc.

On March 23rd we will hold an Open Doors event, in which we will share our creative processes with the local public.

INVESTMENT
Cost per participant: BR$ 3000/15 days (aprox. 600US$ / 559€). The investment does not include transportation to the residence.

Includes all lodging at a historic house (2-4 people per room), amazing food, use of workspaces (studio, office and ateliers) and leisure spaces, as well as equipment (P.A., instruments, projector, etc.). Residents will have access to a small recording studio and the assistance of a team of sound engineers.  We can provide invitation letters for accepted residents willing to seek funding on their own.

 

The investment covers the costs generated by the project, which does not make any form of profit.
