Can we teach art? Can we learn art? 

I think, what we can do is to be attentive and focus our perception on something by seeing and hearing. This means looking into details, trying to understand, trying to recognize, to perceive in detail, through the eyes, through emotions that lead to hand, body and mind. We keep all possibilities open.

Could we call this time a “school for vision”?

How can we bring the things we perceived to paper?

How can we give the perceived a form?

This is what interests me and what would like to try, together with you.

The alchemy of engraving gives each of us the opportunity to take part in a creative journey.

Printmaking between tradition and experiment.

The course aims to teach the printmaking techniques intaglio and relief through the process of drawing.

The goal is to experiment with different techniques, including drypoint, etching, aquatint, as well as woodcut and linocut.

The starting point is your drawing on paper and the search for a graphic representation that can be transferred onto different materials. The engraved pieces will also be printed.

GEHARD DEMETZ

What I cannot express with words I can express through my sculptures. For me the form is the key to communication.

This course gives us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in creating.

The paths can be different, it is important to me that everyone finds and recognizes their own language.

The body is our focal point, our way to look for possible variables that can support our statements and feelings.

Evening events: Studio visits, discussions, get together

The program will be communicated at the beginning of the course.

Opening hours of the studios:

Mon. -Sat. 08:30h – 12:00h, 14:00h – 18:00h.

The studios are closed on Sunday.

Lunch break: There is a simple studio kitchen available, if desired we can eat and cook together.

Atelier and working materials:

The studio of the Summer Academy is located in a spacious hall in the industrial area of Pontives/ Val Gardena. The facilities of the summer academy (easels 185 cm x100 cm, modelling racks, stools, work tables) are available for the participants to use. Modelling clay, plaster and individual pieces of wood are provided. Other work equipment, materials and work clothes are to be brought with you.

A nude model will be present for the entire duration of the course.

Accommodation:

Each person has to take care of their room and board themselves. A list of accommodations will be provided.

This call is open to all artists, art students and aspiring sculptors above 18 years!

Conditions of participation:

The course participants must register by e-mail till 01. 06. 2022, 12:00 pm.

Submit the completed application form, a portfolio containing max. 5 current works, a CV, all in digital form.

A maximum of 20 participants can be admitted, the selection is made on the basis of the submitted documents by the lecturers. By registering, you commit to participate in the course.

Participation fee:

The participation fee includes a one-time registration fee of 300,00 Euros and is to be transferred within 10 days of the confirmation of participation from the Summer Academy to the following bank account of the association “LA VETA”:

The enrolment is only valid from the time of deposit. This fee entitles you to participate in all courses and events offered.
