Dusk Till Dawn 2023 – an open call for night photography

Spanning two centuries, the magic of night photography has captured the collective imagination of the masses. From the infamously long exposures required by early artists to high-speed color film and the advent of digital technology, the light at night has inspired an explosion of interest among contemporary artists. Natural vistas, celestial bodies, urban landscapes,­­­ artificial structures, and nocturnal interludes represent but a few of the limitless subjects of nighttime photography.

Praxis Gallery seeks the submission of photographic works that explore the fundamental qualities that make night photography­ – from dusk to dawn – a compelling contemporary art form. All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.

• Notice of acceptance: Fri. Nov. 24, 2023, 4PM CST
• Exhibition dates: Dec. 16, 2023–Jan. 6­, 2024

ACCEPTANCE   Up to 38 images will be selected by the directors for exhibition at Praxis Gallery. 

ENTRY FEE. $40.00 for submitting up to five images, $5.00 for each additional image (up to ten total images per open call). Payment is accepted by credit/debit card through our secure online submission site. The entry fee for submissions is non-refundable.

ELIGIBILITY  International, all accepted. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Submitted images may not have been exhibited at Praxis Gallery within the past year.

COPYRIGHT & USAGE RIGHTS  Artist retains all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose photographs are accepted for exhibition grant Praxis Gallery the nonexclusive right to use, print, and reproduce submitted digital files for the purpose of the exhibition, promoting the artist, promoting related programs and subsequent display on Praxis Gallery's website, social media, and online exhibition archives. The artist's name will be included wherever the photographs are displayed.
