WHAT’S GROWING ON?

What’s Growing On is an open call by The Company Studios (https://thecompany.studio/) that has the objective of creating an index of artists. We are building a platform for open questions, a process of research and study of the patterns and themes of our time. Every artist from all over the world is welcome to apply.

What’s Growing On is also a question for the artists themselves. What issue do you feel is urgent to address? Which artwork better displays it? In that way, it is a deep, personal and subjective exercise of understanding.

The art committee (for members’ bios see the paragraph named “Commitee”) will select 20 artists divided into two group shows to be exhibited in Milan at The Company Studios. The first group show will start in September, and the second one in November, each one will last for one month and will be curated by the commission.

ALL MEDIUMS CAN APPLY

The Company Studios is an interdisciplinary space willing to welcome all artists who, in their research and experimentation, are not only visual artists but also sound designers, archeologists, code developers, or any other exotic professionals of the art scene. In that spirit, all mediums can apply, and a balanced representation will be guaranteed in the display for the two exhibitions by the commission members. There is no size limit to submit the artworks and all ages are welcome in the spirit of achieving even more inclusion.

SUBMISSION

Every submission should have a maximum of 3 single artworks and has a contribution of  €30. The submission fee guarantees that THCMPNY keeps working on its mission to promote and sustainably research the artists' work.

COMMITTEE

Maximiliano Aduki is an Italian-Argentinian self-taught visual artist and designer who has been pushing art into advertising as a creative director, believing that advertising is part of society's culture, so art plays a massive role in it as a means of connection, understanding, and vulnerability. In 2022, he founded The Company Studios, a space for creative research that aims to foster our ever-changing now.

Anna Vittoria Magagna, art curator, manager, and writer contributor. She collaborated with a range of different private and public institutions, such as Meetfactory in Prague, MASI Lugano, Viasaterna in Milan, and the European Commission in Brussels. She is currently collaborating with Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea and curates the art section of the magazine T-Mag. Her research involves artists addressing the relationship between technology and humanity.

Maria Valeria Biondo is an independent curator. She holds an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London. She is the Founder and Curator of DES BAINS, a contemporary art gallery based in London. For the past five years, Biondo has been working with artists and creatives across the UK and Europe, creating coherent channels for the promotion of emerging, contemporary art. Her curatorial practice focuses on belonging, folklore, destruction, necropolitics, mass control, psychogeography, and the politics of land within and beyond exhibition-making. Currently, her research engages with the politics of noise and sound.

Mano Leyrado is an interdisciplinary artist and curator exploring the intersection of art, technology, and society. He co-founded CPU, an artist-run space in Buenos Aires, where he curated exhibitions focusing on the sociopolitical implications of technology. Leyrado has exhibited his work internationally, including at Kulturni Centar Beograda in Serbia. He has also curated exhibitions in Montevideo and Berlin, where he currently resides. Mano is studying sculpture at Weissensee KHB in Berlin continuing exploration of technology, internet culture and bio-systems.
