Letters, Numbers & Symbols – CALL FOR ENTRIES – deadline 8/31

THEME: Letters, Numbers & Symbols
What’s written, scrawled, printed, posted, erased, illegible. Letters, words, glyphs, equations, signatures, graffiti, advertising, envelopes, love letters, cursive, ampersands, abbreviations, charts, graphs, lines in the sand, hieroglyphs, runes, legends, typos, billboards, mistakes, regrets, palimpsests, fragments, fractions, chicken scratch, alphabets, phrases, nouns, verbs, neon, slogans, documents.

Praxis seeks submissions of photographic art that includes letters, numbers, words, and/or symbols as a fundamental aspect of the composition. All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.

JUROR | DALLAS CROW
A high school English teacher for over twenty years, Dallas Crow co-taught a course at Breck School with an art teacher in which students combined language and images. His own poetry, fiction, and nonfiction have been published in numerous periodicals, anthologies, and on the sidewalks of St. Paul. His chapbook, Small, Imperfect Paradise, was published by Parallel Press at the University of Wisconsin. His photographs have appeared in galleries around the United States and internationally, and on the covers of multiple books and magazines. His solo exhibition, The Other Border, was mounted at Praxis in the fall of 2018. Dallas recently moved to Georgia to pursue new adventures in fine art photography and education.

ACCEPTANCE | AWARDS
Up to seventy-four images will be selected by the juror for exhibition at Praxis Gallery. A Juror’s Choice, eight Honorable Mentions, and a Directors’ Choice will be awarded and featured in the exhibition, the printed show catalog, and the online exhibit gallery. Juror’s Choice will receive free entry into three juried calls for entry of their choice and a complimentary exhibit book. Directors’ Choice will receive free entry into two juried calls for entry of their choice.

ENTRY FEE
$35.00 for submission set of five images, $5.00 for each additional image (up to ten total images per open call). Payment is accepted by credit/debit card through our secure online submission site. The entry fee for submissions is non-refundable.
