BAROQUE BLUE: Ionian Art Experience

Baroque Blue is an art residency open to worldwide artists, architects, designers, performers, musicians, writers, who will be able to apply individually or in multidisciplinary groups. The call is reserved for all those who work  through visual, performative, photography, video, applied arts, eco-psychology, writing, site-specific interventions, musical installations, relational art etc.

THE PLACE - The villa that houses the residents is located in the natural landscape of Santa Caterina di Nardò, in the province of Lecce in southern Italy. It is not far from the cities of Lecce and Gallipoli. Participants will have the opportunity to live in the same living spaces, cook together and live the experience of total art. All the services are available in the villa for a pleasant and stimulating stay.

DATES: The residency art program has a total duration of 14 nights (From June 23 to July 7, 2020), with the possibility of participating even for just one week (from June 23 to 30).

CURATOR: Together with the participants, the Residency hosts the curator DORES SACQUEGNA, native of Lecce. She will introduce the residents to the space and the local context through a series of studio tours and site visits, along the Ionian coast and taste the Mediterranean cuisine that enhances the senses. Each will have individual feedback and will participate in ROUND TABLES to discuss contemporary issues about creative industry. There is no pressure to produce any final outputs by the end of the residency.

EXCURSIONS: Puglia is a magical land to be experienced. We will discover the Naturalistic Paths of the Natural Parks, in the Special Protected Areas (Z.P.S) and some Sites of Community Importance (S.I.C) of Salento.  We will move by foot, with city buses or minibuses with guided tours to reach more distant places. A series of sustainable excursions between dry stone walls, straw and olive trees, marine museums, karst caves, ancient villas, historic centers, urban, ancient oil mills and hypogea, Byzantine crypts and much more .

PUBLICATION & REPORT: All the works and the convivial moments will be documented with photographs, videos and reports for the preparation of a MULTIMEDIA CATALOG that will be published online, as an INTERACTIVE MAP of the interventions on site. The program will be advertised through PRESS RELEASES and magazines and the press kit, a copy of DVD and the Certificate of Participation will be given to all participants as a tribute and gratitude for their work.
