Cel del Nord 2022

Our residency is open to creative people of all disciplines. We offer an inspiring environment, beautiful nature, a picturesque village and a magical, lovingly restored old house. Cel del Nord is suited to artists who seek peace and quiet and a sense of ‘getting away’ to make their work.

We are seeking artists for residencies of either one week or two weeks in duration in 2022. Applicants can apply for the following dates:

One week residencies

25th May to 1 June 2022
15th June to 22 June 2022

Two week residencies

25 May to 8 June 2022
1 June to 15 June 2022
8 June to 22 June 2022

We consider applications to work on anything, but are particularly interested in hearing from artists who are working on themes relating to:

* artificial intelligence (either practical or conceptual), or
* ancient roman settlements (the residency is in walking distance of a dig site), or
* agriculture, food sources and the ecological impact of farming

Accommodation

Private
- bedroom with double bed

Shared between up to two artists
- bathroom, kitchen, studio workspace of 50m2, terrace, reading room

Shared between artists, hosts and a placid dog
- walled garden

Provided
- breakfast provided in the morning
- eggs, bread, olive oil, fruit, tea and coffee supplied in the kitchen
- transport to and from the airport (Barcelona/Girona) or the train station (Girona/Vic)
- Weekly studio dinners (Saturday)
- Fibre broadband

Other practicalities

Two artists will be in residence at any given time. 
Residencies overlap week by week, with a new artist arriving each week
Residencies run Wednesday to Wednesday
There is no public transport to or from Oristà
The hosts can communicate in English, Spanish and Catalan.

Expected from the artist

A blogpost, article or interview of minimum 750 words or ten images documenting thoughts and processes undertaken during the residency.
There is no expectation to produce final work.

Cel del Nord exists in a private building. The residency is run – everything from the processing of applications to cleaning the artist’s flat – by volunteers. Our website and other costs are met by voluntary contributions from residents and by holding paid online workshops.
